65 played, 50 scored.

Mo Salah has hit the half century of goals and it has not taken him too long. He has not been on fire this season, but in the last week or two, the flamboyant Egyptian has shown signs of being nominated for a last year's Ballon d'Or.

He's got a good job on the weekend to see Liverpool over Huddersfield and he was at it again on Wednesday night, when he helped Jurgen Klopp's men to a 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade at Anfield.

Already leading against the Serbian champions thanks to Roberto Firmino's opener, Salah scored his first goal of the night just on the stroke of half-time.

Displaying all the zip and zest of last season's heroics, Salah broke onto a Shaqiri pbad before finishing with aplomb past the keeper.

Early in the second-half, he added his second spot and this game was all over the shouting.

They went to the Belgrade outfit and Pool fans have plenty of cause for optimism Wednesday night's display.

Firmino, Mane and Salah all over the score-sheet bodes well but it was the display of Brazilian midfielder, signed from Monaco for € 50 million during the summer that turned the most heads.

The 24-year-old has only played 21 minutes of Premier League this season with Klopp admitting that it's taken him some time to adapt, but the evidence of Wednesday night's shows – he's finding his feet in England.

The combative midfielder made more tackles in 60 minutes than any Liverpool player has made in a game this season. He has also been a positive and accurate leader.

And Liverpool fans are speculating that Jordan Henderson's place could be in jeopardy.

Liverpool had beaten Paris Saint-Germain in their opening game of this season's Champions League goal lost to a last-gasp Lorenzo Badge goal away at Napoli in game two.

This 4-0 win gets them back on track and they're now running for a place in the last 16.
