According to the Butte County Public Health Department, more than 140 fire camp evacuees located in four different shelters have had symptoms of norovirus due to an outbreak, while 41 currently have them.

Shelter workers separate sick people from healthy people, giving them a separate bathroom and sanitizing them all the time, Almaguer said.
The epidemic has spread since Wednesday, when the Ministry of Health announced that evacuees in two shelter centers were showing symptoms.

The Enloe Medical Center in Chico visited several reception centers for norovirus patients who were "critically ill," said Susie Benson, head of infection prevention and control at the hospital.
Inpatients are treated with fluids for dehydration, said Benson. County medical teams are in shelters to badess patients to determine if they have norovirus symptoms or only Noro-like symptoms, Benson said.
