Netflix announces a new series of Octavia Spencer

At the Netflix panel during the Television Critics Association's press tour, the broadcast giant announced a limited series produced by and starring Oscar Octavia Spencer 19659003] Mrs. CJ Walker . The series will tell "The very irreverent story of the pioneer of black hair care and nabob [Sarah Breedlove, better known as Madam C.J. Walker] and how she overcame hostile turn-of-the-century America, epic rivalries, tumultuous marriages and a family." tiny to become the first American black. The series, which will run for 8 episodes, is based on the book on its own ground by A Lelia Bundles . Kasi Lemmons ( Eve Bayou speaks to me) will direct and produce the first executive episode, with Nicole Asher Janine Sherman Barrois ( Claws ) and Elle Johnson will share showrunning duties, and also executive products alongside Spencer, LeBron James Carter Maverick (SpringHill), Mark Holder ] and Christine Holder ( Zero Gravity ).

The announcement comes alongside the news of another new limited series Maniac who also wooed film talents from list A (including Emma Stone and J Onah Hill ). The big question with limited series, of course, is whether they will continue or not if they prove popular. Most movie stars are more willing to sign shorter-term projects such as limited series rather than an ongoing television show, which can make the limited series appealing (and increasingly popular now) . And as we saw with HBO Big Little Lies if the cast wants more, there will be more! (Whether there should be or not.)
