While he was at the panel Voltron in San Diego Comic-Con today, the co showrunner Joaquim Dos Santos has confirmed that the show Voltron: Legendary Defender will end this year.
Specifically, he confirms that there are at least two other seasons remaining in the show for a total of 26 episodes. A season of 13 episodes of seven will come out this year with a block of 13 next episodes (we badume season eight) after that. Once these episodes are over, the show will be over. According to our panel reporter, it was explained that the creators wanted to stop the show because some things just do not work when they are undefined.
It was awesome !! The new season is coming out on August 10 and there will be 13 NEW EPISODES! The season after that will be 13 more episodes but … it will be the end of the series. @ArtOfLaurenM promises that the series will end on an incredibly high note! #Voltron # SDCC2018

This corresponds to what the showrunners said earlier about the end of Voltron in the interviews. While Dos Santos and co-host Lauren Montgomery were suspicious of the details, it was clear that the end was in their heads. Asked by ComicBook.com earlier this year, Dos Santos said that they were "far enough" with the general story that they decided to tell, "but not so far as we were going to give how much more we have to do "with Montgomery adding that"
Reminder, season 7 is released on August 10th @netflix ! Back to 13 episodes !! #Voltron # SDCC2018
