HOUSTON – The #PlaneBae saga took a dark turn as the woman featured in a series of tweets earlier this month said in a statement that she faced many shades of Online harbadment since his interactions with a man on a robbery became viral.
The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, published this statement to Business Insider:
"I am a young professional woman On July 2, I took a commercial flight from New York to Dallas, without my knowledge and without my knowledge, other pbadengers were photographing me and recorded my conversation with a neighbor, social media, and unfairly speculated about my private conduct.
"Since then, my personal information has been widely disseminated online: aliens have publicly discussed my privacy on the basis of obviously false information, I have been convicted, humiliated, insulted and harbaded in the real world. "I did not ask and do not look for attention. #PlaneBae is not a love story – it's a digital age alert story about privacy, identity, ethicism and consent.
"Please, continue to respect my privacy and my desire to keep anonymous."
Since his statement was published, Euan Holden, the man nicknamed #PlaneBae has posted a video on YouTube and Twitter, saying that the experience has been "humiliating" and a "whirlwind".
Holden, a model and former football player, was interviewed on "The Today Show" about the plane meeting, but defended and pleaded for the privacy of his neighbor.
"It was enough for a few individuals to be so anxious and excited to know more than they went to the deepest of research to find and reveal the identity of someone who did not want to to be found, "he said. Earlier this week, Rosie Blair removed the viral tweets that she posted during the flight, and posted a statement on Twitter.
It reads in part: "The last thing I want to do is to remove the agency and the autonomy of another woman. I would like to be able to communicate the shame that I feel to have done that, but I really feel that at this point my feelings are irrelevant. It can happen too little too late. "
