Colin O'Brien has named Real Betis prospect Anselmo Garcia MacNulty in the Ireland Under-17 squad to face England, Czech Republic and Germany over the next week at Tallaght Stadium.

Garcia MacNulty impressed with Paul Osam's Under-16 side in September and the defender will now join up with the Under-17s for this international tournament in Dublin.

Head coach O'Brien has named a 21-man squad for this week's matches and with a qualification already underway for UEFA's Under-17 European Championships, the Under-17 International Tournament serves as preparation for the 2018 Finals.

England and Germany qualifies as a top seeds and receives a bye to the Elite Round, while Czech Republic topped Group 8 in the Qualifying Round with three wins from three.

Speaking ahead of Thursday's game against England, O'Brien revealed the tournament is crucial to the team's build-up to summer.

This tournament will be another phase of the tournament, and the players will be playing at a very high level.

"This week will be about gaining experience in a tournament set-up." I want the players to learn from the experiences, "O'Brien continued.

And O'Brien is delighted with the work being done at the Under-16 and Under-15 age levels.

"There is plenty of work going on there." "We are always looking for players in the squad."
