NAOMH Conaill manager Martin Regan says an eagerness to make amends for last year’s county final defeat was one of the main reasons why he stayed on as manager for the 2018 season.
With a young family to take care of, Regan could easily have stepped away, safe in the knowledge that he had delivered Naomh Conaill’s third title in 2015.
However, defeat in the 2017 county final brought huge disappointment, and Regan and his team are keen to put things right this season.
“It’s never easy walking away from any job and it’s not really something I would have considered after last year,” said the St Columba’s Comprehensive, Glenties teacher.
“The way we lost the county final was very disappointing, and it was something that the group thought we could improve on.
“There was a determination to see if we could go one better than last year.
“All we have done so far is get ourselves back to that same position, and now we want to drive on and take it a step further this time around.”
