St Patrick's Athletic maintained its mid-table position with a comfortable win over Limerick FC at Markets Field.

Goals from Kevin Toner, Jake Keegan, Simon Madden and a Limerick goal helped St Pat's score 47 points.

Limerick will now face Finn Harps in the playoffs after beating Drogheda United in the two-leg playoffs.

It was the Dubliners who made the whole race in the first 10 minutes and almost took advantage by James Doona but Limerick goalkeeper Brady diverted the ball around his right post.

However, St Pat's managed to get out of the deadlock Conan Byrne. Lee Desmond's header bounced off the crossbar and Toner was the first to react to lead the ball into an empty goal.

St Pat's increased the pressure as the halftime went on and was rewarded with a second goal in the 22nd minute when Ian Bermingham gave Keegan the goal to score at close range after Clifford's long oblique balloon opened the defense to Limerick.

The locals did well to keep it 2-0 at half-time, but the deficit was doubled early in the second period.

First, Brady was not able to control Colman Kennedy's pbad and the ball crossed the goal line despite the goalkeeper's best efforts.

Moments later, St Pat's ended the rout when Madden opened the scoring after a center on the right side of Byrne.
