Three members of a North Wicklow Shooting Club will represent their country at the BDMP German Open this weekend.

In fact, members of the Hilltop Shooting Club in Newtownmountkennedy make up half of the six members of the Irish team participating in the Leitmar International Tournament in Germany from Friday, November 9th to Sunday, November 11th.

Eugene O 'Rourke, resident of Newtownmountkennedy, will be participating for the first time in the Ireland team, having shot in national competitions all over the country. Eugene, who runs AvantGarde Chauffers, has built his scores over the last year and was selected based on his top three scores of the last 12 months.

Len Regan has also been selected for the German international based on his scores. Len has been part of every national team selected for two years and was part of the IGRF World Cup winning team in 2017 – a title that Ireland will be defending next year in South Africa. Len lives near Blessington and is the representative of the National Federation of Rifle and Gun Club Associations (NASRPC).

They will be joined by Karl O 'Brien, Hilltop member and Hilltop member, at the German round of the IGRF international target shooting competition.

During the event, competitors will shoot at paper targets at varying distances of 10 to 50 meters. each target has a time limit and a different number of shots to shoot. The international competition is called '1500 & # 39; and individual competitors will also move alongside the teams.

Ireland is currently world champion in target shooting in the low caliber and center shooting disciplines and also holds the title of individual world champion.

Mick McGrath, president of NASRPC, wished the best to the team of Ireland as she prepares to face competitors from around the world.
