The starting 11 changes Jurgen Klopp can make when Liverpool visit Watford

And so begins another seemingly interminable international break for Liverpool supporters to endure.

The Reds signed off for the latest round of national games with a routine 2-0 win at home to Fulham to – temporarily, at least – go back to the top of the Premier League.

Manchester City’s 3-1 win at home to local rivals Manchester United on Sunday saw the Premier League champions regain top spot, but Jurgen Klopp’s side remain in the hunt.

Liverpool next return to action when they travel to Watford on November 24 as they aim to keep pace at the top of the table.

Klopp will no doubt be keeping his fingers crossed for the safe return of all his travelling stars, while his non-international contingent might be given a few days off from the hectic schedule of the Premier League.

For the Reds manager though, his attention might now immediately turn to matters at Vicarage Road in just under two weeks time – and what his staring XI might be.

So, just what can Klopp do?

Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson leaves the field at half-time during the Premier League match at the John Smith’s Stadium

Working on the basis of everyone returning from international duty with a clean bill of health, the Reds manager might make some changes – once more – to his midfield.

Klopp has adopted a 4-2-3-1 approach at times this season to accommodate Xherdan Shaqiri, but the in-form Switzerland attacker might be left on the bench to give Liverpool a more solid trio in the middle of the park.

The high-flying Hornets have power in their engine room in Abdoulaye Doucoure and Nathaniel Chalobah, meaning Klopp might opt for a more sturdy three away from home later this month.

That could see Fabinho keep his place, while James Milner and Jordan Henderson could also return to the fold after coming off the bench against rock-bottom Fulham on Sunday.

The back five are unlikely to be altered, although Joe Gomez could shift out to right-back to bring in Dejan Lovren, should Klopp decide on rotating his centre-backs.

Virgil van Dijk is likely to retain his place, while Andy Robertson will surely be named ahead of Alberto Moreno at left-back.

Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge in dejection after Red Star scored a goal during the Champions League group C soccer match between Red Star and Liverpool at the Rajko Mitic stadium in Belgrade

Roberto Firmino’s mini goal drought continued against Fulham on Sunday, although the Brazilian did operate effectively as a more withdrawn attacker behind Mohamed Salah.

Daniel Sturridge remains an option for Klopp, although Firmino could be moved back into his No.9 position.
