Speaking on Eurosport, Wiggins said: "He is now at the age of 32, he has matured as a person and as an athlete and his laid-back approach will continue to carry him through. "

Thomas – winner of two stages en route to his success, 11 and 12, with the first of these days seeing him pbad in the overall standings – insists that he was not thinking of winning the whole race until the eve of the penultimate stage, the time trial Saturday which actually sealed the victory.
