Wayne Rooney gives his verdict on Manchester United's Premier League chances 2018/19

Wayne Rooney supported Manchester United to play the Premier League title this season.

The Red Devils finished 19 points behind Manchester City last season as Pep Guardiola's team entered the championship. The last club to win the title in 2013, but he believes his former club can compete with City this time.

He told the BBC: "Obviously, they can challenge, it's a mbadive club." Last year was different because of Manchester City.

"In any what other year, they could have won the title. Many people have watched what Manchester City has done and said that Manchester United has not played very well.

"But they had a good season, of course, they did not win anything, but I think they can gain confidence in themselves and I think they can push Manchester City the season next.

"I saw that people were saying that they were not playing football the most attractive. But they scored a lot of goals. I think that they arrive there. Hope it will not be long before they win the title again. "
