West Ham United defender Declan Rice believes a win at Huddersfield Town on Saturday would be “mbadive” for the Hammers.
The East Londoners travel to the John Smith’s Stadium this weekend looking for their fourth win of the season to close the gap to the top half of Premier League table and extend their lead over those sides in the relegation zone.
One of those such teams are Town, who moved up to 18th in the league after their maiden win of the 2018/19 campaign against Fulham on Monday.
Town will be hoping to claim a first home league win over the Irons since 1971 at the weekend, but will have to play better than they did last year against the Hammers, who ran out 4-1 victors in West Yorkshire in January.
The defeat was Town’s second of a five-match losing streak after the turn of the year, while the three points allowed West Ham to extend their unbeaten run to four fixtures.
The result was significant for both teams as they set up their Premier League run in, with both eventually clinching survival at the end of the year.
And Rice believes a victory this week for the Irons would be as mbadive for West Ham as it was last year at the John Smith’s.
He told the club’s official website: “Huddersfield haven’t had the best of starts, but they’re the home team, they won on Monday night and we’ll be going there as the away team trying to pick up the three points like we did last season.
“That was a mbadive win for us last season and it would be mbadive for us again this season.”
The centre back went on to badess the Hammers’ performance at home to Burnley last weekend, suggesting the side is full of confidence after their 4-2 win.

“I thought we controlled the game from the start and were unlucky not to score five or six goals, to be honest, with the amount of chances we created, but we scored four and conceded two,” he said.
“We’ve needed three points for quite a while now. We should have had them last week at Leicester and, if we’d have had 11 men on the pitch it would have been a different game.
“We played well at Brighton and against Spurs, but on Saturday the main thing was we got the three points and put in a really good performance.
“It was enjoyable to play in, but it was stressful! We went 1-0 up, then they equalised on the stroke of half-time, then we went 2-1 up and thought we were on the way.

“Their game, what they’re really effective at is putting balls into the box and winning headers, and they did that to make it 2-2, so we thought ‘here we go’, then we scored another two and heaved a sigh of relief!
“Now every is buzzing because it was a mbadive three points.”
