I got my hands on Apple's new iPad during its launch in Brooklyn on Tuesday, alongside the restart in 2018 of MacBook Air's entry-level laptop and Mac mini compact desktop. . Where to start? I've already seen augmented reality demonstrations with the iPad Pro (see our practical report from WWDC), and Apple's collaboration with Lego on AR play is not new. But I had the opportunity to spend time with a 12.9-inch iPad Pro and Lego Playgrounds app.
It's a technology in its infancy, but what bodes is fascinating. In the demo, a Lego complex kit of a castle had been built from instructions. Then, my demonstrator has "scanned" the structure using the camera from the iPad Pro from a Lego application. He recognized the structure and launched a game on the screen that covered the real castle with enemies, indicators, animated flames and many more details still alive. Essentially, instead of the castle remaining a static toy, it became the site of a complementary video game with the castle as a backdrop.
Gimmicky? Enough about. But this points out that the RA is in the top half of the first run. When AR angles are run on games, on-the-job training scenarios, on navigation and retail appraisal applications, it will be a big problem. We'll see when we get one on the bench. It certainly seemed to me faster than my well-worn Apple iPad Air, although these demo units are not as spoiled for applications.

The latest accessory in date is the official Apple accessory presented by the company, with the exception of the revised pencil.
