Now you can search YouTube with emojis: Video platform converts a snowman into Frozen’s hit tune and a firework into a Katy Perry song

YouTube now lets users search for videos using emojis.
Viewers on the Google-owned website can type in the symbols on their phone to produce a unique set of search results.
In one example, typing a firework emoji brings up Katy Perry’s hit single of the same name.

Users looking to listen to Alicia Keys’ song Girl On Fire need only type in a flame emoji to find it on YouTube.
A depiction of a simple family home produces search results including the Madness song Our House.
A circus emoji brings up a music video with one of the songs from the 2017 film The Greatest Showman.
And users looking to get in the Christmas mood can enter the symbol of a festive tree to bring up a range of seasonal songs.
The latest addition follows the launch of YouTube Music Premium which allows viewers to listen to their favourite songs without having to keep the app open.
The £9.99-a-month subscription service also offers users an advert-free YouTube and the ability to download songs.
YouTube’s move into the subscription music market is widely seen as a bid to take on rivals such as Spotify and Apple Music.
The platform said its previous focus on video meant music lovers have had to ‘jump back and forth between multiple music apps and YouTube.’
In May, Spotify said it had reached 75million subscribers globally, while Apple said in April its service had reached 48million subscribers.
