RAPID CITY, S.D. -People suffering from one of the deadliest forms of cancer got support Sunday from consumers of potent potables.

Dakota Point Brewing hosted an awareness and fundraising event for the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation Sunday afternoon in Rapid City.
Pancreatic cancer only has an 8 percent survival rate and is on the way to becoming the number one cause of cancer deaths in the United States.
The costs of battling pancreatic cancer can be staggering and can put families in financial jeopardy. The foundation helps ease some of the financial burden.
“We have families that get pancreatic cancer and then they can’t work because they’re sick,” said Rhonda Hatfield, founder of the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. “They lose a main income. So, we actually help them pay their mortgage, their electric bill, we help them put food on their table while they’re in treatment so they can focus on their treatment and have less stress from the financial burden of pancreatic cancer.”
One dollar from every beer sold Sunday went to the foundation, and folks not drinking beer could also make donations.
