The process began a little less than a year ago, when former Senator Leagueist Valter Zanetta and Provincial Councilor Luigi Spadone had begun collecting signatures among citizens, which exceeded the required quota of 5 a thousand subscriptions. "Finally, the citizens of Verbano Cusio Ossola may be called to decide on the future of their province, today in great economic difficulties".
Among the reasons for the crisis, according to the promoters of the referendum, there is also the fact that "the region of Piedmont, unlike Lombardy, holds 18 million euros of water diversions in a territory characterized by the presence of hydroelectric power stations: in case of victory yes, it would be the first pbad of a Province from one Region to another in the history of our Republic ".
