Primary PD 2019: vote on March 3rd

The Democratic party's national leadership has approved the congress rules that set the date of the primaries to March 3, 2019 (ALL PD SECRETARIES). Four abstainees and no vote against. The regulation, proposed by the Congress Committee, provides for applications, together with 1,500 signatures collected in 5 regions, to be submitted by 12 December at the latest. From January 7th to 27th, only the voting members in the circles will select the three candidates who will go to the primaries. February 3 will take place the national convention and finally March 3 open primaries. Former members can confirm their membership when they vote for the club, while for new members, online membership will be activated until December 20th.

Poll: Zingaretti and Minniti face to face

According to the latest Bidimedia poll, the two favorite PD primary candidates, Nicola Zingaretti and Marco Minniti, would be face to face. On the basis of the data collected, none of the candidates would exceed the 50% threshold. The president of the Lazio region collects 40% of the vote, registering a 4% decrease compared to the month of October. The former Minister of the Interior, Minniti, follows him with 38% of the consents, an increase of 9% over the previous survey. The former secretary, Maurizio Martina, is third with about 9%. After the announcement by Matteo Richetti to want to leave the race and to ally support the candidacy of the outgoing secretary Martina, there remain seven candidates in the primaries. Besides the big three Zingaretti, Minniti, Martina, as well as Francesco Boccia, Dario Corallo, Cesare Damiano and the new entry Maria Saladino.
