She will soon be celebrating her first year of life when she was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on December 15, 2017, after being transplanted from a deceased donor. The extraordinary result was announced by the scientific journal lancet. This is the first birth occurred through a transplant of this type of uterus: in other cases, the donors were alive. The mother of the 32-year-old girl was born without a uterus because she had Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome. The 45-year-old donor had three children and died as a result of a stroke.
