A polar bear was killed in the Svalbard Islands: he attacked a guide

It all happened when tourists from the cruise ship MS Bremen came down to visit the northernmost islands, accompanied by two guides. The polar bear attacked one of them, wounding him to the head: the other guide, who also looks after the safety of tourists, shot and killed the bear in an act that has been defined as self-defense.
