The old port of Genoa becomes 5g. After the memorandum of understanding signed between the municipality, Fastweb and Ericsson, the city will become one of the centers where to experiment the development of last generation services. The first technological pole could be, precisely, the area of the Old Port which, thanks to the 5G platform that will be developed in the coming months and the network Wi Fi already present, will be transformed into a digital ecosystem in which citizens tourists and businesses will benefit from advanced services within what is called Internet of Things . Technologies that will touch on many aspects, from security of access to environmental protection, from energy efficiency to smart parking management, to augmented reality for development of tourist applications.
According to the agreement Fastweb and Ericsson will build the network infrastructure in collaboration with the Municipality of Genoa which will provide its existing real estate badets and civilian infrastructure for the installation of equipment and antennas needed for project development.
