Thousands of Rafael Correa's supporters marched in downtown Quito, challenging the international arrest warrant against the former Ecuadorian president. During the march, there were clashes with the police, who rejected the protesters using tear gas and tear gas.

The arrest warrant was issued Tuesday. Correa, who is in Belgium, is accused of stopping collaborating in the investigation into the attempted kidnapping of a 2012 opposition MP.

Yesterday, slogans such as "No neoliberalism" were on the banners of protesters. "A united community will never be defeated". The procession walked along Viale Dieci towards Piazza Grande, where are the offices of the current President Lenin Moreno.

Critics of the head of state, former deputy of Correa, accused him of having betrayed the principles of "revolución ciudadana" inaugurated by his predecessor.

The arrest warrant was issued a few days after a visit to Quito by US Vice President Mike Pence. Correa called the accusations against him "a political conspiracy" by Moreno
