In addition, it is stated that "in carrying out the tasks badigned to it by this article, in order to avoid any duplication of activities and costs, the Authority shall itself use even the integrated information system (IIS) if necessary ".

For those who violate the provisions of the law, there are specific provisions regarding sanctions. "The retail energy sales company that applies specific charges to the end customer for the receipt of invoices or billing information or for access to consumption data is subject to a pecuniary administrative penalty of 300 to 5,000 euros for each offense". This in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 12 of Article 16 of Legislative Decree No. 102/2014.

Electricity bill and gas, the example of some complaints

On the basis of this information, ARERA, as also reported by Il Fatto Quotidiano, is implementing a series of measures, both penal and normative, with regard to various energy companies. Some cases concern, for example, companies such as A2A and Dolomiti Energia. The disputed principle is "the violation of the right of end customers to correct billing of energy consumption".

In the case of Dolomiti Energia, the dispute concerns the additional cost of 1 euro per paper bill provided in various offers of electricity and gas. Therefore, the following is read in the sent layout. "The company has breached the ban on end customers to get additional fees for receiving bills.". While in the final phase, it is indicated the conclusion that "the acquired elements are a prerequisite at the beginning (…) of a procedure for the adoption of measures of sanction and prescription".
