A fire burns a forest located on Mount Gerania, above the seaside resort of Kineta, 55 kilometers from Athens. At least seventy firefighters, badisted by five planes and two helicopters, seek to tame a forest fire released in a pine forest of Mount Gerania, above the seaside resort of Kineta, on the border with a road leading to the Peloponnese. Thanks to winds blowing 50 kilometers to the hour, the cloud of smoke is also visible from the capital, located 55 kilometers west of the lights.
Since the early 2000s, fires in summer remain a serious problem for Greece, which in recent days has been "affected" by an exceptional heat wave. The thermometer today marks 37 degrees in Athens, while in the center of the country the temperature reaches 41 degrees.
