At least 10 people died and 40 others were injured as a result of the magnitude 6.4 earthquake that occurred this morning on the Indonesian island of Lombok.
Victims and injured were mostly affected by concrete slabs that fell from buildings. On the other hand, there is no report of damage or casualties on the neighboring island of Bali. The earthquake damaged dozens of buildings. This lasted for about 10 seconds, forcing residents to flee into the streets and fields. The damage to the famous Rinjani Volcano National Park is also damaged and is immediately closed due to a landslide.
Like Bali, Lombok is known for the beauty of its mountains and pristine beaches. The hotel and other buildings in both places are not allowed to exceed the height of the coconut palms. Indonesia is prone to frequent earthquakes due to its location on the "fire belt", an arc of volcanoes and fault lines in the Pacific Basin.
