"The Lamezia Terme airport was included in 2015 among national airports of particular strategic importance for the demonstrated traffic data and for predictable growth
Traffic has increased on average by 100,000 pbadengers per year since 1998, reaching more than 2.5 million in 2017.

Nearly 700,000 pbadengers in the first four months of 2018 suggest confirmation of the progressive and constant growth trend ". This can be read in the note of the Committee "Lamezia 4 January 2018." The airport with this activity could have been the driving force behind the development of Lamezia Terme and Lametino.
Instead the management of the company has barely considered the needs of the city of Lamezia and the airport itself having for years showcases deficits against the increase of the traffic
From 2017 SACAL has also taken over the management of Reggio Calabria and Crotone airports that have gone bankrupt respective companies after the registration for years, substantial budget losses always reimbursed by public interventions and pbadenger traffic quotas limited and far from the minimum deemed sufficient for the autonomous management of an airport.
From 2017 SACAL has a new administration with a new board of directors in which two Lametini entrepreneurs are present as members, the representative of the province, the representative of the municipality of Lamezi to Terme and the representative of the region who was elected president
The unanimously elected president has been given all the powers of management and the position of director with the votes of the members of the public party and in the Absence of private partners
The subsequent decisions are therefore all directly attributable to the president and concern the obvious interest in reactivating the activities at the airports of Reggio Calabria and Crotone. The business plan with which the sole management was rewarded with the indication of the resources envisaged should have served as a guide to these actions
This was not the case. There were signs of resumption of flights, while it became increasingly apparent that the declared financial availability to support the new activities in the airports of Reggio Calabria and Crotone did not match.
The striking cases of aircraft from Crotone to Lamezia to provide fuel and the offer of mayors of the Crotone region to pay SACAL the sum of 240 thousand euros only confirm.
The question we are asking ourselves is whether under these conditions the airport of Lamezia Terme is still a resource for the City and it is considered fair that the development of the same airport is delayed by the missing resources because otherwise used
The question we are asking is what has prevented the legitimate interests of our airport and our city considered, for example for the new terminal, partially funded in part
We wonder what prevents the convergence of the representative and the Municipality of Lamezia Terme and the two private shareholders Lametini which together represent 48.498% of the share capital of SACAL SpA
The public meeting we believe is the place for better inform the City by urging those who can contribute to the common interest to grow our city and the Lametino, which must continue to have in Lamezia Terme a development opportunity not only for pbadenger traffic but also for commercial and tourist traffic.
We thank the Extraordinary Commission which badured the presence of one of its members at the meeting to be held Thursday, July 12 at 17:00 in the council room of the city of Lamezia Terme. "
