From the early hours of this morning, an operation of the riflemen of the Aosta and Ros group is underway, aiming at the execution of various precautionary measures issued at the request of the anti-mafia leadership of the district of Turin against a ndranghetistico badociation in Valle d'Aosta, among others, members of the family "Nirta-Scalzone" of San Luca (Reggio Calabria) having links in Piedmont, Lombardy, Liguria and Calabria. This is the first time that surveys involve Calabrian clans landed also in the Valle d'Aosta.
The investigations have reconstructed "a scenario of widespread infiltration of the mafia into the economic and entrepreneurial fabric from 2014". The badociation was also involved in importing large consignments of cocaine between Spain, Calabria and Piedmont.
As part of the operation "Gehenna", the carabinieri also arrested the regional councilor Marco Sorbara, elected in the ranks of the Union valdotaine. He is taught investigative funds. Former Aosta city councilor, Sorbara was taken to prison.
