(ANSA) – ISLAMABAD, JULY 6 – A court in Pakistan has today
ruled former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif guilty of
corruption and sentenced him to ten years in prison.
This is the first verdict against the former first
Minister, who is currently in London and who must
face a series of tests since July 28
he was fired by the Supreme Court from his office
from the Prime Minister as part of a process for a scandal related to the
what we call the "Panama Papers".
Sharif's daughter, Maryam Nawasz, was sentenced to
seven years in prison for a story that was born for the
themselves "Panama Papers", while her husband, Mohammad Safdar, is
was sentenced to one year for giving false information
to the investigators.
According to the court, the former prime minister and his family do not
provided valuable explanations on the origin of the funds
they usually buy luxury properties in London, which
they did not declare to the tax administration.
