The Pope prays for Nicaragua, Syria, Ethiopia and Eritrea

Francis never tires of invoking peace, praying for it to be concrete and sustainable. After the recitation of the Angelus, he did so with strong calls, addressed to the nations traversed by political, social and economic violence, but he also praised all the efforts made for dialogue and democracy that they consider as protagonists, in this historical time, the Church of Nicaragua, represented on the place Saint-Pierre by a delegation of young people:

Renewing my prayer for the beloved people of Nicaragua I would like to join the efforts of the country's bishops and many people of goodwill, in their role of mediation and witness to the ongoing national dialogue process on the road to democracy.

In the heart of the Pope, there is also the Syria torn by years of violence and war and in recent days shaken by new military actions that have not spared the population the first casualty of the conflict:

The situation in Syria remains serious, especially in Daraa province, where the military actions of recent days have also hit schools and hospitals and provoked thousands of new refugees. Renew, with prayer, my call because people, already hardened for years, are spared suffering.

There are far too many conflicts in the African continent, but the Pope – before the Angelus exhorted the faithful to follow the path of faith – puts the spotlight on "good news" coming from governments of Ethiopia and Eritrea finally at the peace negotiations table:

"In the midst of many conflicts, it is right to point out an initiative that the & # 39; We can call it historical, and we can also say that it is good news: nowadays, after twenty years, the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments have come back to talk about peace together. to enlighten the hope for these two countries of the Horn of Africa and for the whole of the African continent ".
