The cyclists mowed in an attack, a Swiss among the victims

The four were overwhelmed by a car carrying gunmen. One suspect was arrested while the other two were killed

BERN / DUŠANBE – During an attack on tourists yesterday in Tajikistan, four people died, including a Swiss citizen. The other victims are two Americans and a Dutchman, announced today the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Two other tourists were injured.

Tourists who traveled by bicycle were submerged by a car. "We are investigating all tracks," Interior Minister Ramazon Hamro Rahimzoda told AFP, saying the attackers "have knives and guns".

A suspect was arrested while two were killed in a police operation. Three more are still on the run, says Rahimzoda

The attack took place in the Danghara region, about 150 kilometers south of the capital Dushanbe, where the group of seven cyclists was submerged. A French tourist came out unscathed from the episode.
