The alert for scamorza is triggered as a result of the presence in the cheese of Shiga toxin producer (Stec) of Escherichia coli, confirmed by the badysis of the Southern Experimental Zooprofilattico Institute from Italy. Some batches of scamorza have been recalled as a precaution, as contamination of the raw material used during production is suspected. It is recommended not to consume the product with the batch numbers and times indicated and to return it to the point of sale.
