Three days after the second anniversary of the failed coup in Turkey, a court of Istanbul rendered 84 Sentenced to life imprisonment for defendants accused of participating in subversive activities and armed clashes on the Bosphorus Bridge – now renamed Martyrs of 15 July – Night of the putsch
In total, 32 civilians and two policemen were killed trying to thwart the leaders of the coup d'etat. According to the Anadolu agency, 72 convictions were pronounced for the attack on the constitutional order and 12 others for the murder of the famous publicist Erol Olcok, close to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and his son Abdullah Tayyip Olcok. The penalties between 15 and 17 years were confided to 49 other accused
