Unesco Heritage, yes to the city of Ivrea but not (for the moment) the candidacy of Prosecco Hills

" Ivrea The Ideal City of the Industrial Revolution of the 20th Century, is the 54th Italian Site of Unesco A Recognition That Goes to a Humanistic Conception of Work Adriano Olivetti born and developed by the community movement and here completely completed, in which the economic, social and cultural well-being of employees is considered an integral part of the production process ". The words are from the Minister of Goods and Cultural Activities, Alberto Bonisoli, for the inclusion of the city of Piedmont in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This decision took place during the work of the 42nd World Heritage Committee, which is being held in Manama, Bahrain, from 24 June to 4 July.

The application of the Prosecco Hills is however not pbaded for the moment. The majority required for immediate registration was 14 of the 21 member countries of the Committee. Angola, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cuba, Guatemala, Kuwait, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Hungary and Zimbabwe reportedly expressed their support . While the opposites would have been Australia, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Bahrain, Norway, St. Kitts and Nevis, Spain. Unfortunately for two votes, it was not possible to have an immediate registration
In this context of a substantial division of the rank of voters at the 42nd session of the Whc, a simple report has been reached, it is the antechamber of the inscription in the prestigious register of the Unesco . This result was obtained, on a proposal from Tunisia and despite the opposition of Spain and Norway, after two hours of debate, as never seen here, and pressing the Italian interministerial commission led by the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs Guglielmo Picchi with Ambbadador Vincenza Lomonaco (Permanent Representative of Italy to UNESCO), who led the international negotiations for recognition by UNESCO of landscape and environmental qualities of the Prosecco DOCG area. In the final decision, just approved, the UNESCO Committee recognizes "the high potential of the candidate site, which has elements of uniqueness that need to be better specified." And he invites Italy to present the file next year with the corrections required for registration ".
