The Council of Ministers gives the green light to the draft "Red Code", which contains measures to ensure a faster and more effective protection of women victims of violence (THE NUMBER OF WOMEN). Ministers Alfonso Bonafede and Giulia Bongiorno proposed the bill, which will now be sent to the Chambers for the launching of the parliamentary process.

What the red code provides

The text provides for an accelerated procedure for complaints and faster investigations into cases of violence against women: complaints of abuse, badual abuse, persecution and serious injury to the family or the community will be brought directly to the prosecutor, who will then hear the woman within three days.

Count and ministers with red ribbon

As a symbolic gesture, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the ministers wore a red ribbon at the government meeting in Palazzo Chigi. "From the government, a concrete signal against violence against women," the prime minister wrote on Twitter.
