Update:

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (WTHR) – Indiana University confirmed that a third student had been diagnosed with mumps, which officially made it an epidemic, according to CDC standards.

The first two cases were confirmed on February 21st. They were roommates.

A spokesman for the IU said the third student was a man who lived off campus. It is unclear whether he had a contact or a relationship with the first two patients.

The spokesman said the contagious period of the student was due to end on Tuesday, so he should be cleared back when he returns to campus after spring break.

The school has contacted the student's roommates and is working with the Indiana Department of Health and the Monroe County Department of Health to take the necessary steps.
