Jack Dorsey wants the whole world to know he has a Bitcoin clock

If you watch Thursday’s House disinformation hearing, where Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Google CEO Sundar Pichai testify, you may have noticed a device in the shape of a clock prominently displayed on Dorsey’s right shoulder. (It’s hard to miss – aside from Dorsey, a window and some housewares, it’s basically the only other thing in the frame.) But the device doesn’t seem to be showing the time – or at least I don’t. haven’t seen this. So what is it?

It’s a Bitcoin clock. Specifically, the $ 399 BlockClock mini from Coinkite. If you’re even tangentially aware of Dorsey’s love for bitcoin, it won’t come as a surprise.

As for the BlockClock mini, it can indeed display the time, but it is also a Wi-Fi enabled device which can also show you the current price of bitcoin and other data related to the cryptocurrency. “Track trade prices, see blocks as they are posted by miners, and connect Opendime to view balance, fiat value, and deposit QR codes,” reads a description on the store. by Coinkite. If you’re in love with the BlockClock mini after seeing it on Dorsey’s counter, you might not be getting it anytime soon. Coinkite lists it as a “long lead time item” and notes in the description of the clock that “lead times may vary – no guarantee of delivery date due to high demand.” The main device website also has a big “Book Now <3" button that points to the Coinkite store, which doesn't fill me with confidence.
