Jack Tretton: Sony will face a "tougher competition" with the PS5

Do you remember Jack Tretton? The veteran of the video game industry has been a major player in Sony for years, assuming the role of president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America from 2006 to 2014. You may remember that it had helped launch the PlayStation 4 with this E3 2013 fateful press conference. He has now created his own investment company in game development, Interactive Gaming Ventures. But what does he think of the next generation?

GamesBeat recently interviewed Tretton about his new projects and independent games, but one issue in particular caught our attention. When asked what he thought of Sony at the present time, he said that the company was "very well placed" and that the announced technical specifications of the PS5 "looked awesome" . Despite its strong position, however, Tretton believes that the holder of the platform will face "more exponential competition than the one he suffered the last time".

Microsoft should offer them better performance, and Stadia is a new ride on the market that did not exist in 2013. Nintendo is more relevant this time around, "Tretton said, ultimately concluding that the increased competition would be" great "for everyone in the company, whether you're a developer or player. "It's hard to disagree with him; it's a weighted analysis, and we absolutely agree that a more competitive industry will lead to good things.
