The most important thing is to be comfortable in the clothes … You make the clothes. Its a question of confidence. I put everything in confidence. I go there and try to make the adjustment.
Do you do everything with confidence?
Absoutely.
I have the impression that it comes out very clearly when I see you playing on the field. What has made you so confident as a quarterback from college until now?
I am valued in the pain and persistence that I have had to endure and overcome. I think that’s where the grain comes from. I just want these things to permeate my teammates. I try to lead them, to be a hard-hitting guy, to try to represent my teammates and my team in the right way. It’s all about friendliness in sport.
When you mention the things that you had to overcome, what exactly do you mean by that?
Adversity. Different obstacles and different opportunities when I had to learn and grow. I always say, “Is the glass half empty or half full?” I use all of these opportunities to grow. Obviously you have to do things to overcome, but it’s still meant to grow and it’s always a situation you can learn from.
How do you approach the controversy? Like it or not, he’s been around you from the start, ever since Alabama, To Oklahoma To Eagles. How did you deal with the tough times that come with being a quarterback?
In many of these different situations, it was the people around me who caused the controversy, not me. I try to go there and never go too high or too low. I always had a little [calm] mentality.
Coming out of the draft, were you already expecting to be a second-round pick?
It’s a story I gotta tell when it’s all said and done [laughs]. I had an opportunity then, and I have an opportunity now. I’m just really excited to be with the Philadelphia Eagles and the things we’re going to do in the future.

Watching you during your rookie season was tough. We haven’t seen or heard much from you. But there was so much going on in the quarter room with Carson Wentz’s situation. What was it like to stay seated and silent while all of this was going on around you?
It has always been like that for me. Honestly, I am a man of few words. I’m just trying to let my room do the talking. I just wanna go over there and play ball. This is what we all love to do. This is what I love to do. So I let all the external factors be external factors and I focus on what I can control, and that is my game.
But, the silence can be intimidating at times, right? Things can pile up. Did you run into any issues while this was going on or did you have people to lean on when Carson Wentz’s situation deteriorated and Doug Pederson was fired? We were introduced to a whole new team overnight.
These are the things that you have to cross. I go there with a stoic mindset. I put total faith in my game and I go there, I work for it and I will get everything back. I have a good relationship with a lot of the guys on the team: Jason Kelce, Greg Ward, DeVonta Smith, all the receivers.
