EASTERN PALESTINE – James E. Hartman, 81, died on Sunday August 22, 2021 at the Hospice House in Poland.
James was born July 4, 1940 in Negley, Ohio, the son of the late James and Gladys George Hartman.
He resided all his life in Eastern Palestine and was employed as a truck driver for Nulfco. He previously worked at Magneco-Metrel in Negley for 25 years as well as various other local businesses for a total of 55 years. He was a Methodist by faith and a member of the Steelworkers Union. When he was not working he enjoyed being with his family and especially his grandchildren. He also loved to work and still worked until he fell ill.
James is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy (Gorby) Hartman; two sons, Jim (Rhonda) Hartman of Columbiana, Jamie (Beth) Hartman of eastern Palestine; two daughters, Debbie (Mitch) Mahon of Negley, Kathy (Matt) Gernert of Eastern Palestine; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Diane Marie Hartman in infancy and Carol Dawn Hostnik as well as a brother, Harold Beabout.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and the entombment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her granddaughters, Heather House, Holly Short and Alicia Clark as well as her former daughter-in-law, Karen Stratton.
