James E. “Jim” Plautz, 77, of the city of Texas, passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday September 19, 2021. He was born September 4, 1944 in Merrill to the late Edward H. and Sophie (Bartelt) Plautz. On May 1, 1965, Jim was united with the love of his life, Mary R. Plautz, a union that would last more than 50 years. She predeceased him in January 2018. Jim attended Trinity Lutheran Church Elementary School and graduated from Merrill Senior High School. He worked his entire career at Wisconsin Fuel & Light (Wisconsin utility) as a locator. Jim was a very loving and outspoken person who enjoyed fishing, spending time at the cottage, hunting deer, making maple syrup, snowmobiling with family and friends, and feeding deer. He loved helping out with his grandsons’ wedding barn, woodworking and gardening, or whatever he could create with his hands. In his early years he made numerous camping trips with his family and friends. He will be sorely missed.
