CHANDIGARH: Even as the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) is about to launch Chandrayan-2, the excitement of two twin brothers of Jammu, Swapnila Acharya and Swapnil Acharya has multiplied . The two students from Jammu and Kashmir have been selected for ISRO's Young Scientist program.
During the Isro program, which recently completed, Swapnila and Swapnil had the opportunity to visit various Chandrayaan-2 laboratories and interact with scientists. In addition, they were also taken to the satellite launch base.
While Chandrayaan 2 is ready to take off, the duo has decided to stay glued to the televisions to witness the story being created.
"We were curious about the difficulties encountered during the creation of Chandrayaan 2. How will this help India to take a giant step in the field of programmers related to space, etc. . " remembers Swapnila.
His brother, Swapnil, praises Isro's scientists who, despite a busy schedule, have patiently answered all their questions. "This program has broadened my horizon and added to my knowledge of space," says Swapnil.
Class X students from JK Public School Jammu were among 110 students from across the country who qualified for the ISRO program.
Swapnila remembers that her first introduction into space was through a poem – Chanda Mama Door ke – that her mother Sarmistha often recited to improve her mood.
Isro has launched a special program for schoolchildren called Yuval Vigyan Karyakram Young Scientists Program YUVIKA 2019.
It is thanks to their excellence in the academic, athletic and extracurricular fields that immersion has had the chance to lead the team of young scientists.
During their program, they were taken to the Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC), also known as Sriharikota Range (SHAR), hence the launch of Chandrayaan 2.
They feel lucky enough to be part of the story. A few days before the launch, they were the first to know about Chandrayaan-2 and GSLV Mark III.
In Sriharikota, they had the opportunity to interact with Isro's president, Dr. K Sivan. Swapnila explained how the Chandrayaan scientists had explained the mission in detail.
"When we saw the real rocket GSLV Mk III, the Chandrayan-2 rocket, it was so huge, beyond our imagination," says Swapnil.
"We also saw the track through which the Chandrayan 2 launcher will be transported to the launch pad. We have seen the launch control and main control units from which the mission will be controlled. Now, when Chandrayan 2 is launched, we feel so excited, "recalls Swapnil.
The recently concluded two-week program at the Space Applications Center in Ahmedabad and three other centers focused on transmitting to young people the basic knowledge of space technology, space science and space applications, with the aim of generating their interest in emerging areas of Space Activities.
