Jeep confirms production of Wrangler Hemi V8

Remember when Jeep rained on the Ford Bronco parade (or tried) with the V8-powered Wrangler 392 concept? Many scoffed at the move and many more questioned whether it will actually reach production or forever remain a concept.

This doubt intensified when we had the chance to get behind the wheel of one. Because despite driving the Wrangler Hemi-powered concept vehicle, Jeep said it was “not a preview of a specific production model, but a proof of concept.”

I guess that’s a huge lie.

As you can see in the Instagram video above, a Jeep Wrangler sprinted on the dirt. Not surprisingly for a Jeep, but it came with a caption that read: “Some concepts are so powerful they take reality by storm.”

But the next sentence was the one that confirmed everything.

“Production model shown. Available in 2021.⁣”

This is it, guys. The Hemi V8-powered Wrangler 392 is on its way to production and we’ll likely see it in detail sooner than we think. If you’re still in doubt if he’s really a Hemi under the hood, turn on the sound of the built-in teaser above and listen to that glorious rumble.

While this essentially confirms that a V8-powered Wrangler is in the works, it does not guarantee that the Wrangler 392 concept we drove before is the exact model intended for production. But if that’s any indication, you can expect SRT’s 6.4-liter Hemi V8 to produce up to 450 horsepower (336 kilowatts) and 450 pound-feet (610 Newton-meters) of torque. These numbers will be higher than any other all-terrain vehicle you can buy on the market today, including the upcoming Bronco Raptor.

Speaking of – your move, Ford.
