MacKenzie Bezos announced on Twitter Thursday that Jeff Bezos and her had completed the process of dissolving their marriage, leaving him $ 35.6 billion worth of Amazon shares.

Grateful to have completed the process of dissolving my marriage with Jeff with the support of everyone and everyone who has reached out to us with kindness and waiting for the next step as co-parents and friends. Glad to give him all my interests in the Washington Post, Blue Origin and 75% of our Amazon shares, as well as controlling the actions of my actions, in order to support his ongoing contributions to the teams of these incredible companies. Excited for my own projects. Grateful for the past and I look forward to the future.

In a separate statement, Jeff Bezos expressed gratitude to his ex-wife.

"I am grateful for his support and kindness in this process and I am very excited about our new relationship as friends and co-parents," said Bezos.

This announcement clarifies some of the concerns of investors in the days following the couple's announcement of their intent to divorce in order to determine who would have the right to vote at Amazon. According to the experts in divorce law, the split of Bezoses represented a unique situation, since they already existed before the beginning of Amazon and that one or the other did not have such a sum d & # 39; money.

While other founders and CEOs divorced, most had met their spouse after acquiring their fortune. MacKenzie Bezos, on the other hand, would have played an important role in establishing Amazon's roots. In an often quoted story, MacKenzie drove the New York pair to Seattle while Jeff wrote Amazon's business plan. MacKenzie eventually negotiated Amazon's first freight contracts, according to Wired.
