NEW ULM – A woman with a We the People 507 button and a bright red shirt that said “I trust Dr Suess more than Dr Fauci” was among over 100 people to meet Dr Scott Jensen at Booth Welding & Fabricating Monday.

Graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1973 with an undergraduate degree in physiology, he attended Luther Theological Seminary before earning a medical degree from the University of Minnesota. Jensen was named Minnesota’s 2016 Family Physician of the Year by the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians.

Elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2016, Jensen said he was running for governor in 2022 because Minnesota cannot be cured by typical politicians.

In February 2020, he introduced a bill to create a new commission to investigate drug price increases.

“In the Legislature, I worked across the aisle. I spoke about the importance of obtaining a license for drug benefit managers ”, Jensen said. “They control our lives more than we realize. We have to say enough.

The event was hosted by We the People 507, a group of citizens from New Ulm and surrounding communities who say their goal is to make positive change statewide and locally, while resisting changes that would affect the rights contained and guaranteed by the US Constitution.

Participants recited the United States Pledge of Allegiance before Jensen spoke.

“Health care is better when it is patient-centered”, Jensen said. “We are here today because you have to be the champion of your health… You can choose whether you get the flu shot or the shingles shot. “

Jensen said in 2017 he was “annoyed that Blue Cross / Blue Shield Medicare was not covering the 87 counties in Minnesota.”

He questioned the effectiveness of wearing masks.

“We have 19 years of data which indicates that masks don’t do the job… They have a filtration efficiency of 10%” Jensen said.

“Blockages? You don’t really know if your business is safe ”, he added.

“Vaccines? I don’t think people should be fined for standing up for their core beliefs. A vaccine isn’t like an injection of penicillin. It’s a lot more like chemotherapy for cancer,” Jensen said.

He said the natural immunity is superior to a two-shot vaccine.

Some of his other campaign plans include no mask warrants for school children, no vaccine passports, no vaccine warrants in the private sector, or emergency lockdowns that don’t work.

“We must follow the president [Donald] the Trump model ”, Jensen said. “His legacy will be political. He reduced the rules and regulations and put in place good judges. He tackled NATO and NAFTA and pioneering issues. This is what we will do. But we’ll do something different and hire groups that weren’t before.

On another note, he also said that capture and release may work for the walleye, but not for the criminals.

“I want it to be easy to vote, but hard to cheat. And cheaters should spend time in jail ”, Jensen said.

Jensen also said the DFL party did not help with farmer succession planning or E85.

“We need to let farmers grow crops, teachers teach and have well-paying jobs and a strong economy,” Jensen said. “Talk about it and we’ll get there. It is not about the candidate. It’s about values. We have to get back on the right path. As governor, I’m going to work my tail to make Minnesota heal. We can do it together, by creating a grassroots movement, respecting parents and rejecting Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Mandates. “
