Jill bidenThe Fox News press secretary called on Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy and the network to apologize on Monday for saying the first lady failed the country in allowing Joe Biden to run for president .
“When you look at what hurts America, when you look at this lack of leadership, and you ask yourself, who are the people responsible for putting someone so incompetent and frankly, you know, mentally fragile in that position? ” the Fox & Friends Weekend the host said.
“I’m sorry, as a political wife I can’t help but look at Jill Biden. . . . No one knew his state of mind better than Dr Jill Biden, ”said Campos-Duffy, who is married to the former rep Sean duffy (R., Wisconsin).
She said the “most patriotic thing Jill Biden could have done was tell her husband to love her husband and not let him run around in this mental state he is in.”
“I think she also failed with the country,” she added.
Michael LaRosa, Jill Biden’s press secretary, called the comments “disgusting.”
“@RCamposDuffy and @FoxNews know better. They can do better and their viewers deserve better. I hope they will apologize to the First Lady and leave this kind of speech in the [trash] where it belongs, ”he said in a tweet.
Critics of Campos-Duffy came in response to the abysmal US withdrawal from Afghanistan. Afghanistan has been in turmoil in recent days as the Taliban quickly took control, leaving Americans and Afghans desperate to evacuate the country.
Biden has been criticized for not starting the evacuation process sooner, leaving U.S. forces to scramble to evacuate thousands of Americans and Afghans eligible for special visas before the Aug. 31 withdrawal deadline set by President.
