The family of the man who was hit and killed by Jim boeheim in a tragic car crash in 2019, he’s now suing the hoops trainer … claiming the Syracuse legend was responsible for the man’s death.
It’s all in a new trial obtained by TMZ Sports … in which Jorge jiminezBoeheim’s family are lashing out at Boeheim after saying the 75-year-old coach was responsible for Jiminez’s death.
In the lawsuit, Jiminez’s family say that Boeheim “was traveling at a high speed and / or was negligent in the operation of the vehicle” … which they claim led to the tragedy.
As we previously reported, Boeheim was on his way home after dinner on February 20, 2019 at around 11 p.m. when cops say he encountered a broken down vehicle in the middle of Route 690 in the city of Syracuse.
The cops say when Boeheim swerved to dodge the car … he accidentally hit and killed Jiminez, who had just left the trip broken down.

The cops opened an investigation into the incident … and when they finally found out that Boeheim was go 11 MPH above the 55 mph speed limit before the wreckage – they classified it all as a “tragic accident” and refused to go ahead with charges.
Now, however, Jiminez’s family clearly want Boeheim to pay for his part in the incident … suing both the coach and Syracuse University for unspecified damages.
Neither the school nor Boeheim commented on the trial on Monday.
In a statement shortly after the crash, Boeheim said he was “heartbroken” by Jiminez’s death … adding: “Juli and I extend our deepest condolences to the Jimenez family.”
