Jim Carrey shared a controversial political artwork on former First Lady Melania Trump on Friday.
The cartoon style illustration features a 50 year old smiling Trump up close in front of a turquoise background. To the right, the image has a caption in pink letters that read, “Oh … and goodbye the worst first lady. Hope the colony can finance your life in the shallow areas. Thanks for nothing.”

Carrey did not share his own caption when he shared his tweet on Friday afternoon. However, the post received over 25,900 likes, 2,500 retweets and 371 quotes from tweets as of Sunday morning.
Several commentators called on the 59-year-old comedian for his critical post. Others have expressed disappointment at Carrey’s views, going so far as to write that the cartoon is ‘sexist’, ‘anti-woman’ and filled with ‘hypocrisy’ for someone who identifies as leftist. .

In recent weeks, Carrey has shared political cartoons about former President Donald Trump and notable Capitol Rioters. Caricatures of Democratic politicians appear to be presented in a more positive light on his Twitter feed, including former US Representative Stacey Abrams, Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden.

“Although my term was only supposed to last 6 weeks, I was delighted to be elected SNL President … comedy’s biggest call of duty,” Carrey tweeted when he first announced his departure from sketchy comedy. “I would love to go ahead knowing Biden was the winner because I did that….
