Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, Nightflyers) was selected as the lead in Netflix’s six-part limited series Live The Witcher: Origin of blood, a prequel to the streamer’s hit series the
Witcher.

Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, origin of blood will tell a story lost in time – the creation of Witcher’s first prototype, and the events leading up to the crucial “conjunction of the spheres”, when the worlds of monsters, men and elves merged into one.

Turner-Smith will play Eile, an elite warrior with the voice of a goddess, who left her clan and her position as the Queen’s Guardian to follow her heart as a nomadic musician. A great record on the continent forces him to return to the path of the blade in his quest for revenge and redemption.

Declan de Barra is executive producer and showrunner of The Witcher: Blood Origin. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, founder of The witcher mother ship series, executive product. Andrzej Sapkowski, author of The witcher series of books on which the Netflix show is based, serves as a creative consultant. Jason Brown and Sean Daniel of Hivemind, and Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko of Platige Films are all executive producers.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is one of the two offshoots of the hit Netflix series The witcher, with Henry Cavill. The streamer also has an animated spin-off film titled The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf, focusing on the origin story of Geralt’s mentor and his colleague Witcher Vesemir.

Much-requested British actress Turner-Smith has garnered strong recognition for her breakthrough feature film role opposite Daniel Kaluuya Queen & Svelte, written by Lena Waithe and directed by Melina Matsoukas.

Then Turner-Smith can be seen in A24 After Yang opposite Colin Farrell as well as Amazon Without remorse, opposite Michael B. Jordan. Both films are slated for release in 2021. Turner-Smith will also star as Anne Boleyn in a three-part miniseries for UK’s Channel 5.

This marks a return to Netflix for Turner-Smith who starred in the streamer Nightflyers series, based on the novel by George RR Martin. His series credits also include Cinemax Jett, TNT The last boat, From Amazon Rabid dogs and HBO Real blood.
