John McAfee launches "Bitcoin Play" application, allowing users to earn crypto while testing their knowledge

John McAfee, the creator of the widely used McAfee antivirus, has announced the launch of its new application, called "Bitcoin Play".

On May 4, 2019, McAfee revealed to more than 900,000 followers on Twitter that Bitcoin Play is now available on Google Play for Android users. According to the eccentric crypto-millionaire, the Bitcoin Play app has a "family-friendly option" and a separate version for adult users, which features his "vocal curse to [the users’] ineptitude."

The Bitcoin Play app would allow users to earn Bitcoin (BTC), the flagship cryptocurrency, while answering various questions.

Bitcoin rewarded users for correct answers

As the Bitcoin Play developers explained, the app allows users to test their knowledge of history, sports, general culture, entertainment (among other categories) by answering "tough multiple choice" questions. The quiz of the application is in the typical format of a "quiz" in which users are rewarded with satoshis (the smallest basic unit of the bitcoin currency recorded on the blockchain), which can be sent directly to their cryptocurrency portfolios.

As noted by the Bitcoin Play development team, the application "contains thousands of questions from different categories and new questions are added to each update". In addition, the app allows users to "compete with other users of John McAfee's Weekly Competition League and [have the chance to] earn rewards and additional prizes.

For users 18 years of age or older, there is an option to "allow John's [adult] comment, [so that people can] hear what John really thinks [their] performance."

When you play Bitcoin Play, the payment amount increases as users answer the questions correctly. However, the difficulty level of the questions also increases. The quiz also requires users to think quickly because there are only 10 seconds left to answer each question.

Three life lines available

Similar to the show "Who Wants to Make Millions?", If users are unable to answer a question, they can use one of three "lifebuoys" at their disposal. Lines of life include "Ignore question", "50/50 (eliminates two incorrect answer choices)", and an extension of time, which gives users a bit more time to answer the question.

As noted, users also have the option of using the 18+ mode, which has many blasphemies and insults from John McAfee's voice. Until now, the application Bitcoin Play has received a rating of 4.8 stars on Google Play (with 17 comments). Some user comments suggest that Bitcoin Play is a "fun way to enter crypto" and that the application "creates a strong addiction," including its 18+ version.
