Jones and Miocic delight UFC fans with Twitter

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic both expressed their interest on Wednesday to compete in the International Fight Week on July 6th.

Jones started the conversation by tweeting: "I do not think you're ready to be witnesses (Stipe Miocic) and I, would you give July enough time?"

Miocic responded later, "been ready to see you there."

Jones, the long-time UFC light heavyweight champion, has just won a unanimous victory over Anthony Smith at UFC 235. Jones has only two faults on 26 professional fights. After defeating Daniel Cormier by knockout in 2017, the result was reversed, after Jones was tested positive for the banned drug, Turinabol. Jones was also disqualified for using an illegal elbow against Matt Hammill in 2009, but he dominated the fight so far.

Miocic is arguably the most dominant UFC heavyweight champion of all time, having set the record for consecutive title defenses with three. He lost his belt after Cormier knocked him out in the first round of their fight against UFC 226 last July and has not fought since.

Jones would become heavyweight for the hypothetical match and would keep his UFC light heavyweight belt, regardless of the outcome.
